Teacher’s dead body discovered at school

EAST CHICAGO, IN – Police were alerted on Friday morning about a mysterious death at a school in Northwest Indiana. The initial call was received at 6:41 a.m., which led the officers to East Chicago Light House Charter School. The school where the incident took place is located at 3916 Pulaski Street in East Chicago, Indiana.

The school’s maintenance staff guided police officers to a disturbing discovery. When they arrived at the scene, police found a deceased man on a second-floor stairwell landing.

The man was later identified as Craig Jones, a 47-year-old resident of Gary. Jones was a teacher at the said school, according to the statements provided by East Chicago police.

Investigators learned that Jones notified his relatives of his plan to work late at the school on Thursday night. Later that evening, he asked for a family member to pick him up from school. However, when someone arrived to fetch him at around 10:30 p.m., Jones did not leave the building or respond to phone calls.

The precise cause of the teacher’s death is currently unknown. The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force is heading the investigation to uncover more details about the incident. As of now, there are no indications of foul play.
