Teen girl fatally stabbed at park, boyfriend arrested

SOUTH GATE, CA – A community in South Gate is rallying together following the tragic death of a local teenager. Sarahy Bravo, 18, was fatally stabbed at Hollydale Park on Sunday, September 17. The South Gate Police Department reported that Bravo’s boyfriend, Brandon Galvan, has been taken into custody in relation to the crime.

Bravo, who had recently graduated from Lynwood High School and was preparing to embark on a new job, was found by officers with multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital by first responders, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. A witness at the scene played a crucial role in helping officers locate and arrest 19-year-old Galvan, who is currently being held on a $2 million bail.

Bravo’s friends and family are devastated by the loss. The community has come together to support Bravo’s family, holding a fundraiser over the weekend to help cover funeral costs. The event, which included the sale of baked goods and other food items donated by friends, was expected to continue into Sunday.

Audrey Casas, a teacher at Lynwood High School, expressed the community’s desire to support the family during this difficult time. “To have to worry about finances is very difficult, so we want to support in any way we can,” she said.

Bravo was the eldest of two daughters raised by a single mother. The loss of her daughter has left her devastated, and family friend Melanie Salazar emphasized that the mother wants justice for Sarahy. A GoFundMe account has also been set up in Bravo’s memory.
