Teen girl unconscious days after brutal assault by classmate

SPANISH LAKE, MO – The family of a 16-year-old girl from St. Louis, who was brutally assaulted in an incident that went viral, has provided an update on her health. The teenager, identified as Kaylee, faces a challenging and uncertain recovery journey after the violent attack that occurred on March 8 near Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Missouri.

The disturbing video of the assault showed Kaylee being repeatedly slammed headfirst onto the pavement. Bryan Kaemmerer, the family’s attorney, revealed that the teen suffered a skull fracture which led to severe brain swelling and bleeding. He confirmed that Kaylee has yet to regain consciousness since the incident.

The day after the assault, law enforcement officials arrested a 15-year-old girl in relation to the crime. The juvenile is currently in the custody of the St. Louis County Family Court, facing assault charges.

The shocking incident prompted Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to call for a reform in the juvenile system. Bailey suggested that the accused, if found guilty, should face adult charges and potentially a murder charge if Kaylee’s condition worsens to a fatality.

In the wake of the attack, Kaylee’s family and friends have established two GoFundMe accounts to help cover her medical expenses and provide updates on her condition. The family expressed their gratitude towards the medical team working tirelessly to aid Kaylee’s recovery and remained hopeful despite acknowledging the long road ahead.
