Teen shot at party after group shows up uninvited

HOUSTON, TX – A 16-year-old boy was shot at a party in the early hours of Saturday in Houston, according to reports from the Houston Police Department. The incident took place after a group of people came to the party without being invited. No one in the violent group seemed to be acquainted with any of the party’s attendees.

The shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. on Schroeder Road. The crime scene is located close to the junction of Griggs Road and MLK Boulevard, north of the 610 South Loop.

The young victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the hip. After the gunfire erupted and first responders arrived at the scene, he was transferred to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

HPD Lt. R. Willkens stated that the teenager was attending a party with approximately 30 friends when the unfamiliar individuals arrived. A subsequent quarrel escalated to gunfire. Both pistol and rifle bullet casings were found at the scene.

While expressing relief about only one person being injured, Willkens called the event unfortunate. He shared that the suspect might have left the scene in a blue Ford truck. The Houston Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
