Teen shot dead in violent crime spree

MEMPHIS, TN – A crime spree that shook the city led to the tragic loss of an 18-year-old in Memphis on Sunday. Fares Shihab, who worked at the Smoke and Vape Shop on East Shelby Drive, was fatally shot just before 10:30 a.m. The incident sparked a citywide search for the perpetrator.

Devastated relatives, including Shihab’s cousin Adel, gathered at the shop after receiving the tragic news from the police. Adel, upon arriving at the scene, witnessed police officers and learned of Shihab’s demise.

Three hours after the murder, a surveillance video reportedly captured the alleged offender, who was wearing a ski mask and all-black attire. The suspect was seen carrying a long gun and driving a blue Nissan Maxima that was reportedly stolen from the vape shop’s vicinity.

According to the victim’s uncle, Fowad, the suspect had allegedly committed multiple robberies that day. As the family mourned the loss at the scene, Shihab’s grief-stricken father awaited updates from police from within their car.

Following the manhunt, authorities charged 20-year-old Courdarion Craft with First-Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Carjacking, two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse, and Evading Arrest. Prior to this incident, Craft was out on a $100,000 bond for charges of attempted First-Degree Murder and Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery.
