San Francisco, California – Mint Butterfield, the 16-year-old child of former Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield, has been found safely after running away from home. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mint was located in San Francisco at 11:30 p.m. local time on Saturday.
Mint was reported missing after being last seen at their home in Bolinas, California, on April 21. Bolinas, located about 30 miles northwest of San Francisco, sparked a search effort for the teenager by local authorities.
San Francisco police discovered Mint in a white van belonging to 26-year-old Christopher “Kio” Dizefalo, who authorities believed to be an “adult friend” of Mint. Consequently, Dizefalo was arrested on suspicion of multiple criminal violations and was booked in Marin County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
Fortunately, Mint was unharmed when found, and it was later determined that Mint had voluntarily left home. Marin County sheriff’s detectives worked diligently to recover Mint and conduct interviews with Dizefalo to unravel the situation.
