Teenage girl dies in train ‘surfing’ incident

SILVER SPRING, MD – A teenage girl tragically lost her life while reportedly engaging in the dangerous act of train surfing at a Maryland Metro station last Friday, as per local law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Transit Police were called to a Silver Spring train station around 10:30 am on Friday, upon receiving reports of a deceased girl. Initial investigations suggest that the incident was a result of train surfing, a hazardous and illegal activity where individuals ride on the exterior of a moving train.

Additional details about the victim have not been disclosed yet. The investigation into the incident is still underway, according to the police.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, there was some confusion regarding the victim’s gender. The police had initially reported the victim to be male, but later corrected the statement, confirming the victim was a teenage girl.

Following the incident, trains operating between the Silver Spring and Forest Glen stations were reduced to a single track.

In a statement shared on social media, Metro expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, saying, “We are deeply saddened to learn that a teenage girl lost her life this morning while riding outside of a train car en route to Silver Spring station. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”

Metro reiterated the dangers of train surfing in its statement, reminding the public that it is not only illegal but also potentially fatal. They urged the public to report any suspicious or illegal activities to the Metro police immediately.
