Teenage girl stabbed to death on sidewalk

HOUSTON, TX – A 17-year-old girl was brutally stabbed to death on a sidewalk near the Galleria area on Saturday morning, Houston Police Department officials said. A policeman, who was on duty nearby, was alerted about a fight between two females around 11:14 a.m., at 5100 West Alabama near Sage.

It was initially reported that the argument possibly arose over a bag. When they arrived at the scene of the crime, police discovered the lifeless body of the young woman, believed to be walking to or from her place of work. She was found with two stab wounds in her torso and was pronounced dead on the spot.

While no weapon was recovered, the suspect, reportedly a woman in her mid-twenties, fled the scene on a blue bicycle, which was later found in the vicinity. Detectives are analyzing the bike’s origins and also hunting for available surveillance footage to aid in their investigation.

The motive for the attack remains nebulous, and authorities haven’t ascertained whether the attacker was known to the victim. Although initially reported as a probable robbery, this angle is yet to be confirmed by police.

In the interim, the Houston police have beefed up patrols in the area in line with the holiday season’s security protocol. They have also urged residents to maintain vigilance about their surroundings during this busy period.
