This electric vehicle (EV) has been customized with a green and white wrap to match the country’s current police cruisers, complete with the Dubai Police logo on the hood. The Cybertruck will be utilized as part of the tourist police luxury patrol fleet, showcasing the city’s commitment to innovation in law enforcement vehicles.
The announcement of the Tesla Cybertruck police cruiser sparked excitement not only from the Dubai Police but also from the official Tesla Cybertruck account and CEO Elon Musk. Musk expressed his approval with a simple “Cool” accompanied by a sunglasses emoji, while the Cybertruck account thanked Dubai Police for their trust in the EV.
While the Cybertruck is currently only available for purchase in the U.S., Tesla CEO Elon Musk mentioned during a recent shareholders’ meeting that the company is working towards gaining certification to sell the pickup in other markets as soon as next year. This move towards international markets reflects Tesla’s growing presence and interest in expanding its electric vehicle offerings globally.
Dubai’s embrace of the Tesla Cybertruck for police use comes after a U.S. mods company unveiled a fully outfitted Cybertruck designed for law enforcement earlier this month. A police department in Bargersville, Indiana, reported saving taxpayers around $80,000 per year on fuel costs alone after piloting Tesla vehicles since 2019. These savings underscore the efficiency and economic advantages of transitioning to electric vehicles for law enforcement agencies.
