Thieves: Get Away with $800K in Southern California Jewelry Heist – Owner Speaks Out

Glendora, California – Thieves pulled off a daring heist at a well-protected San Gabriel Valley jewelry store, making off with approximately $800,000 in diamonds, gold, and cash. The incident took place on May 15 at Desiré Jewelry in Glendora, where a group of burglars broke into the store, disabled security systems, and spent six hours breaking into the safes.

The owner of Desiré, Monir Kassis, discovered the burglary three days later and described how the thieves entered through the roof of the shop before looting the entire inventory, including a bag of diamonds and numerous gold chains. Despite the surveillance cameras capturing some of the criminals’ actions, their identities remain unknown.

The thieves used heavy equipment and likely gas-powered tools to cut into the safes while the alarm system and cameras were disabled. Kassis recounted hearing loud drilling noises during the heist and observed footage of two of the suspects signaling each other to leave as the operation neared its end.

Remaining unaware of the crime while on vacation, Kassis had moved all the valuable items into steel safes, of which two were breached by the burglars. The Glendora Police Department is actively investigating the incident, analyzing evidence left at the scene, including blood on one of the safes.

In response to the elaborate nature of the heist, Kassis has hired a private investigator who believes they have promising leads to pursue. Anyone with information regarding the burglary is encouraged to reach out to the Glendora Police Department for assistance.
