Three officers were hospitalized after suspect unleashed attack dogs on them

CHICAGO, IL – Three officers from the Chicago Police Department were sent to the hospital after they were attacked by two unleashed dogs on Sunday. The incident occurred in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the 4000 block of West Wilcox Avenue, where the officers were conducting an investigation. A woman tried to interfere with the officers’ work around 11:22 a.m., and shortly after, an unidentified individual released the dogs.

The Chicago Police Department reported that during the confrontation, an unknown person set two dogs loose. The officers suffered dog bites, and one of the officers was forced to use their firearm, striking one of the dogs. The police department did not provide any further details about the condition of the dogs.

Following the incident, the officers were transported to a local hospital. They were reported to be in good condition. In the aftermath of the event, the Chicago police made an arrest. A female suspect was taken into custody, and charges are pending.
