Three Sheriff’s deputies injured in shootout with suspect

DIXON, IL – Three Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies were injured in a shooting incident Wednesday morning in a gated community in Dixon, Illinois. The deputies were responding to a distress call involving potential suicide and homicide threats.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department received the call just before 9 a.m. and promptly dispatched an emergency response team to the residence in the Lost Lake community. Upon arrival, officers attempted to establish contact with the individual inside the home, making 50 phone calls without receiving any response.

With communication efforts failing, authorities decided to enter the residence. As soon as they breached the door, the deputies were met with gunfire. Three deputies sustained injuries and were quickly transported to a local hospital. Officials have confirmed that all three are in stable condition.

The suspect was also shot during the confrontation and is currently in good condition. The Illinois State Police have taken over the investigation to determine the sequence of events and the motive behind the threats.
