Sag Harbor, New York – Singer Justin Timberlake was arraigned on charges of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York. His attorney confirmed that Timberlake was released from police custody following the incident.
Police reported observing Timberlake allegedly “operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition” around 12:37 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The singer was driving a 2025 BMW when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and maintain his lane of travel, according to a statement from Sag Harbor Police.
During a traffic stop, Timberlake informed police that he had consumed one martini and was following his friends home, as noted in court records. Authorities stated that Timberlake exhibited bloodshot and glassy eyes, along with a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, as detailed in court documents.
An officer described Timberlake as “unable to divide attention” and noted that he showed signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests. Timberlake also declined a chemical test three times, initially stating, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.”
Following the incident, Timberlake was held overnight for arraignment, where he was also cited for traffic violations related to the incident. His attorney mentioned that Timberlake was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
Sag Harbor, located in the Hamptons on Long Island, was where the incident occurred. Witnesses reported seeing Timberlake leaving the American Hotel in the area shortly before his arrest.
Although Timberlake is currently on tour with his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” his performance in Chicago at the United Center is still scheduled for Friday.
