Toddler dies after falling from hotel window

SIOUX FALLS, SD – A toddler from Minnesota tragically lost his life after falling from a hotel window in South Dakota. The child, 1-year-old Madden Hein, died on April 15 following critical injuries he sustained from the fall. The accident took place at the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, where the young boy plunged from the third floor of the building.

According to Sam Clemens, the Sioux Falls Police public information officer, the incident is currently under investigation. Early indications, however, suggest that the fall was an unfortunate accident.

Clemens also praised first responders at the scene who had medical training. These bystanders attempted to treat the critically injured child before he was transported to the hospital. At that point, Madden had a heart rate but was otherwise unresponsive.

Following the devastating incident, Madden’s parents informed the public through a Facebook post, stating that they are struggling to comprehend the sudden loss. To honor their son’s memory, they decided to donate his organs, which they believed could make substantial differences in others’ lives. They referred to their son as a “real-life superhero” and pledged to continue giving updates amid their time of mourning.

Further cementing the community’s high regard for the family, a GoFundMe fundraiser dedicated to them amassed over $63,000 by the morning of April 17. The tribute attests to the loving nature of Madden’s parents, both of whom are teachers, his 3-year-old sister, and a sibling due to be born in August.
