Toddler fatally stabbed at the grocery store in random attack

NORTH OLMSTED, OH – In a traumatizing event, a knife attack targeted a mother and her 3-year-old son in the parking lot of a grocery store in Ohio, resulting in the child’s death and injuries to the mother. The attack is being considered random, stated the police.

On Monday, the mother-son pair were returning to their vehicle after they finished shopping at a local supermarket, Giant Eagle. They found themselves under attack by a woman armed with a knife, causing injuries to both the victims. The suspect was arrested at the scene by North Olmsted police officers, while other officers attended to the victims with first aid.

The child, identified as Julian Wood, was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The assailant taken into custody was named as Bionca Ellis, a 32-year-old from Cleveland.

“Our most sincere heartfelt thoughts are with the victims of this horrible and senseless event today,” expressed the North Olmsted firefighters in a social media post, extending condolences to the victims. Meanwhile, the mother’s identity and health status have been kept confidential by the police.

Extending sympathies to the victims, North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones stated, “Our hearts go out to the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence.” Interestingly, the same Giant Eagle location experienced a murder-suicide in June of last year.
