Toddler Snatched by Giraffe on Safari Drive-Thru: Family’s Shocking Encounter Goes Viral

Glen Rose, Texas – A family from Texas had a frightening experience during a visit to a wildlife center when a giraffe picked up their toddler during a safari drive-thru. The incident occurred at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, where visitors can drive through to observe and feed the wildlife up close.

During the family’s visit over the weekend, 2-year-old Paisley Toten was seated in the back of their truck with her mother, feeding a giraffe when the animal suddenly grabbed her by the shirt and lifted her into the air. The shocking moment was captured on camera by Paisley’s mother, Sierra Robert, and other visitors in a car following behind.

In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Robert recalled the terrifying moment when she realized her daughter had been snatched by the giraffe. Paisley’s father, Jason Toten, also expressed his shock and relief when the giraffe eventually released their daughter unharmed. Fortunately, Robert was able to catch Paisley in her arms as she fell.

According to wildlife expert Corbin Maxey, the giraffe likely mistook Paisley for food due to her proximity while holding a bag of food. The Fossil Rim Wildlife Center responded to the incident, emphasizing the safety of both guests and animals and announcing immediate changes to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Despite the frightening ordeal, the Toten family harbors no ill feelings towards the wildlife center and plans to revisit in the future. Paisley, who remains fond of giraffes despite the incident, is taking it all in stride. Experts recommend researching wildlife centers before visiting, especially those that allow interaction with animals, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
