Tornado Chaos: 6 Twisters Tear Through Wisconsin in Wild Weekend Weather Rampage

Madison, Wisconsin – The National Weather Service confirmed a series of devastating tornadoes swept through Wisconsin on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The first tornado, rated as an EF-0, touched down near Cornelia in Grant County at around 5:37 p.m., with winds reaching speeds of up to 75 miles per hour. Although no structures were impacted, drone footage revealed tree damage along a short path near Highway O.

Following shortly after, an EF-1 tornado struck Dane County, causing significant damage to farms, homes, and trees as it traveled south of Waterloo for approximately 4.6 miles. In Jefferson County, another EF-1 tornado developed west of Watertown, damaging farms, homes, and trees along its 2.1-mile path. Similar to the previous twister, this tornado exhibited winds peaking at 105 miles per hour.

As the evening progressed, two additional EF-1 tornadoes wreaked havoc in Walworth County. The first tornado hit near Fontana-on-Geneva Lake, uprooting trees, wrecking piers, and damaging homes along a five-mile path. Just east of Delavan, the second tornado traveled six miles, resulting in homes losing parts or most of their roofs. A more powerful EF-2 tornado was confirmed in Rock County near Janesville, with winds peaking at 115 miles per hour.

Due to the extensive damage caused by the tornadoes in the Janesville area, the National Weather Service rescheduled their storm damage survey for Monday morning, postponing their visit to Argyle. Despite the widespread destruction, fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
