Trader Joe’s Dumpling Recall: 61,000 Pounds Pulled for Plastic Contamination!

Los Angeles, California – Over 61,000 pounds of steamed chicken soup dumplings sold at Trader Joe’s are being recalled due to potential contamination with hard plastic, as announced by US regulators on Saturday. The recall, issued by the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, affects products produced by CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp. in California.

The recall was initiated after consumers reported finding hard plastic in the Trader Joe’s-branded dumplings, prompting concerns about the potential presence of foreign materials. While no related illnesses or injuries have been reported thus far, FSIS is urging consumers to check their freezers for the affected products.

The 6-ounce “Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings” under recall were produced on December 7, 2023, and can be identified by their side box labels with lot codes 03.07.25.C1-1 and 03.07.25.C1-2. Trader Joe’s has advised customers to either discard the impacted dumplings or return them to any store location for a full refund.

In response to the issue, a spokesperson for CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp. stated that the company is conducting an investigation into the contamination, which occurred during the manufacturing process. Emphasizing the commitment to customer safety as their top priority, the food maker reassured consumers of their dedication to addressing the issue promptly.

Incidents of foreign object contamination, such as plastic, metal fragments, and other extraneous materials, remain a significant cause for food recalls in the United States. In light of these concerns, regulatory bodies continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of consumers by implementing strict quality control measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
