Tree trimmer dies in fatal accident while on the job

ACWORTH, GA – A heartfelt memorial in Acworth, Georgia, has been erected to honor the life of a tree-trimmer who tragically lost his life to electrocution while at work.

Marvin Cifuentes, a 38-year-old tree trimmer originally from Guatemala, was engaged in his typical work routine last week when a fatal encounter with a power line took his life. Cifuentes left behind a wife and three daughters, who he supported through his hazardous and physically taxing work.

A cross now marks the location of Cifuentes’ tragic accident. Alongside this symbol, family members and neighbors have placed pictures as a means of remembering him.

Cifuentes’ tragic passing has instigated an outcry from the local community, urging the city to reassess its protocols for high-risk operations such as tree trimming. Concerns arose about whether the tree-trimming company followed necessary safety measures and about the city’s role in endorsing such high-risk operations.

Residents pointed out that despite the tree trimming company having a valid permit for the operation, power was not cut off even after receiving concerns from the community before the commencement of work.

Repercussions of this tragic event have reached Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which has launched an investigation concurrently with local police. The community clings on to hope that the investigation will aid in restructuring safety protocols to prevent similar misfortunes in the future.
