Tribute: Gary Sinise Shares Heartbreaking Story of Son’s Brave Battle against Rare Cancer

Los Angeles, California – Gary Sinise, beloved actor known for his roles in “Forrest Gump” and “CSI: NY,” recently shared a touching tribute to his late son, McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise. Mac passed away this year at the age of 33 after battling a rare form of spinal cancer called chordoma.

Sinise revealed the heartbreaking news of his son’s passing on the website of the Gary Sinise Foundation, a charity organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. Mac had been diagnosed with chordoma five years ago and passed away on January 5.

In a letter shared with the public, Sinise expressed the deep sorrow he and his family felt over losing their son. He described the pain of losing a child and highlighted Mac’s bravery and resilience in his fight against the incurable disease.

Despite the challenges he faced, Mac never gave up the fight. He underwent multiple spine surgeries to remove the tumor, but the cancer returned and spread. Chordomas are rare tumors that are difficult to treat due to their proximity to vital tissues like nerves and blood vessels.

Throughout his battle with chordoma, Mac found solace in music. With limited mobility in his right arm, he collaborated with his father’s bandmates to create music. Sinise highlighted Mac’s achievements and the impact he had on those around him, expressing gratitude for the time they had together and the lasting legacy of Mac’s music.

Sinise also revealed that Mac’s music will live on through an album titled “Resurrection & Revival,” which will be released soon. The album serves as a tribute to Mac’s life and the strength he showed in the face of adversity.

As they continue to grieve the loss of their son, Sinise and his family find comfort in the memories they shared with Mac and the lasting impact he had on their lives. Mac’s spirit and music will forever remain in their hearts, a lasting reminder of his courage and resilience.
