NEW YORK CITY, NY — Two 36-year-old men were hospitalized after they were struck in the head with a hammer outside a Burger King in Brooklyn on Saturday night, police said, as investigators continued searching for two male suspects who fled the scene.
The attack happened at about 9:03 p.m. near 65th Street and 14th Avenue in the Dyker Heights neighborhood. Police said the victims suffered cuts to their heads and were in stable condition after receiving hospital treatment. No arrests had been announced as of Monday.
Police said the two suspects fled northbound on foot along 14th Avenue after the attack. Authorities described them as men wearing black sweatshirts. Their names and ages, if known to investigators, had not been released.
Authorities have not publicly identified the two victims. Initial reports said both men were taken to a Brooklyn hospital after the assault. ABC7 reported that the men reached NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn by private means, while other local reports referred to the hospital by its former Lutheran name.
CBS New York reported Monday that the two victims had been inside a vehicle in the Burger King parking lot when an argument developed with two men. The suspects then struck the victims in the head with a hammer, according to the station’s report.
