San Francisco, California – The Golden State WNBA expansion team unveiled their new name and brand identity on Tuesday, introducing themselves as the Golden State Valkyries. Drawing inspiration from Norse mythology, the team’s name symbolizes a fearless group of warrior women who soar through air and sea with strength and determination. Their primary color, “Valkyrie Violet,” represents power, ambition, nobility, and women’s empowerment, embodying the team’s modern interpretation of the Valkyries.
