WARNING: MUSHROOM-INFUSED CHOCOLATE BARS SENDING CONSUMERS TO HOSPITALS – FDA PROBE ONGOING

Phoenix, Arizona – Reports of individuals being hospitalized after consuming “microdosing” chocolate bars have sparked concern across the nation. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued a warning about Diamond Shruumz, a company known for producing these products, after a significant number of hospitalizations were linked to their consumption.

Initially, six individuals were hospitalized after consuming Diamond Shruumz products, prompting the FDA to issue an advisory message on June 7. However, the situation escalated, with at least 10 more people requiring hospitalization after consuming the “microdosing” chocolate bars. Additionally, two more individuals sought medical care but did not require hospitalization.

The affected individuals experienced a range of severe symptoms, including seizures, central nervous system depression, agitation, abnormal heart rates, hyper/hypotension, nausea, and vomiting. Despite being marketed as “microdosing” products, Diamond Shruumz claims that their chocolates do not contain psilocybin, the hallucinogenic compound found in certain mushrooms.

The FDA website warned consumers not to eat, sell, or serve Diamond Shruumz-Brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars and emphasized the importance of investigating the root cause of these illnesses. The agency, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is actively looking into the situation to determine the next steps to take.

The distribution of these products has led to hospitalizations in various states, including Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Arizona reported four cases of hospitalization, while Indiana reported two cases linked to the consumption of Diamond Shruumz products.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains crucial for consumers to exercise caution and avoid consuming products that may pose health risks. The FDA and other health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the public.
