Warroad’s Double-Overtime Win Against Proctor/Hermantown Shocks High School Hockey Fans Across the State

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – The quarterfinals of the Class 1A state tournament for girls’ hockey took place on Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center with four thrilling games on the schedule. No. 2 Orono, No. 3 Dodge County, No. 1 Holy Angels, and No. 4 Warroad emerged as the victorious teams of the day, each securing a spot in the semifinals.

In the first game, Orono defeated Willmar 4-1, taking an early lead in the tournament. This was followed by a 4-0 victory for Dodge County against Fergus Falls, marking their state tournament debut. Holy Angels then secured a 6-1 win over Luverne, while defending champions Warroad emerged triumphant with a 2-1 overtime victory against Proctor/Hermantown.

Warroad’s sophomore Taylor Reese delivered the overtime-winning goal, securing their spot in the semifinals. Dodge County’s victory marked a historic moment as they made their first appearance in the state tournament. On the other hand, Holy Angels showcased their dominance with a strong 6-1 win.
