Wife kills her husband over argument about keys

MEMPHIS, TN – A seemingly trivial domestic dispute culminated in a tragic shooting in Frayser late Tuesday night. According to police, a husband and wife were embroiled in an argument over keys that ended with the husband, Terrance Bean, shot dead in their home on the 3300 block of Ardmore.

Upon arrival, police discovered a young girl outside the house who reported witnessing her mother shoot her father. Inside, Terrance Bean lay dead on the kitchen floor, with three spent shell casings in close proximity.

Elita Bean, 44, was later taken into police custody and charged with second-degree murder. The wife reported to the police that an altercation over a gun led to the accidental discharge, fatally wounding her husband. Her daughter, however, provided a notably different account of the incident.

The girl said the acrimonious exchange was over a set of keys, escalating to a point where her mother brandished a knife and tried to stab her father. She further claimed her mother requested her to retrieve her gun, but her father managed to get hold of it first, bizarrely handing it over to his wife and daring her to shoot him.

Police confirmed that the victim was shot once in the chest and appeared to have two stab wounds. Further inspections led to the discovery of a large knife in a trash bin located in the garage and a 9mm handgun in a bedroom.

Elita Bean sustained cuts on her arm and fingers during the violent altercation and has since received medical treatment. She is scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday.
