Wildfire in Los Angeles County Threatening Major Highway Prompts Evacuation Orders – Thousands Forced to Flee!

GORMAN, California – In Gorman, California, authorities have issued evacuation orders due to a rapidly spreading wildfire that has engulfed thousands of acres near a major highway and is threatening structures in the vicinity. The fire, known as the Post Fire, has burned more than 4,400 acres close to Interstate 5 in Gorman, approximately 62 miles northwest of Los Angeles, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

The blaze ignited around 1:45 p.m., and as of the latest update provided by Cal Fire at 10:48 p.m., the fire remains zero percent contained. Thankfully, there have been no reported casualties thus far, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway. California State Park Services have evacuated 1,200 individuals from Hungry Valley Park as a precautionary measure.

Evacuation warnings have also been issued for areas south of Pyramid Lake, including the Paradise Ranch Estates, with residents advised to be prepared to leave if necessary, according to CalFire. Crews are actively working to establish perimeter fire lines around the flames, while aircraft are aiding in stopping the fire’s forward progress despite limited visibility.

In response to the wildfire, the South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued a smoke advisory for residents of Castaic and Santa Clarita, urging them to avoid outdoor physical activities, remain indoors, and utilize air purifiers or air conditioning. The situation remains dynamic and emergency responders continue to work diligently to contain the fire and ensure the safety of all residents in the affected areas.
