Woman arrested for allegedly shooting and killing boyfriend

Early Saturday morning, Jordan Kinn, the roommate of 33-year-old Brittany Holbrook and 30-year-old Tyler Nulisch, placed a 911 call in frantic plea for medical help.

Upon responding to the home on Avenue F in Key West, deputies and detectives of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office found Holbrook cradling Nulisch, who was quickly losing consciousness and bled profusely with a gunshot wound to his lower left back.

The 9mm Smith & Wesson and a spent shell casing were found on the floor close to a dog kennel.

Kinn told investigators he was awoken in the middle of the night by the couple arguing. He ran to the living room where he found Nulisch lying in a pool of his own blood. Shaken, he asked the injured victim what happened, to which he allegedly replied, “That b—- shot me in the back.”

When questioned by detectives, Holbrook claimed a gap in her memory, recalling only snuggling in bed with Nulisch before holding her blood-soaked boyfriend in her arms.

Her explanation later was that Nulisch had tried to kill her, supposedly squeezing her throat to restrict her breathing. However, police made no indications of any marks or evidence visible on Holbrook pointing to this supposed attack.

Holbrook also denied firing a gun, but Kinn told the police that the pair allegedly shared a pistol kept in the house, and thusly, she was charged with one count of premeditated murder. She is reportedly being detained in Monroe County Sheriff’s Office with a bond of $750,000.

Nulisch and Holbrook had been dating for an approximate nine months, based on their Facebook profiles indicating a shared excitement for diving and fishing.
