TUKWILA, WA – A woman fell victim to a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a Costco store located in south King County on Friday. The incident took place on the 1100 block of Andover Park East, the address of the Tukwila Costco location, as reported by the Tukwila Police Department.
Despite the efforts of first responders who made attempts to save her life at the scene, the woman succumbed to her injuries while under treatment by medics.
After the deadly shooting, the male suspect reportedly fled from the scene of the crime. He made his escape in a white vehicle headed in an undetermined direction. Following this tragic event, the Costco store was shut down around 2:28 p.m., as noted by a news crew who were present at the scene. A medical examiner was also called to the location to assess the shooting.
Local responses to this shocking incident included those of Alaine Crosby, a nearby worker and Costco shopper. Crosby expressed dismay at the unexpected violence in the usually safe location. A man who was walking his dog nearby also voiced hope for the suspect’s eventual capture and imprisonment.
Tukwila police returned to the scene around 11 a.m. for further investigation.
