Woman stabbed ex-husband for his grocery expenses

ANTIOCH, IL – A woman from Illinois was taken into custody on Wednesday following an incident where she reportedly stabbed her former spouse multiple times due to a disagreement over his grocery shopping. Julie Anderson, 46, was apprehended at an apartment in Antioch and faces charges of aggravated domestic battery, battery causing severe bodily harm, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The incident took place at the Joanna Court Apartments, where local law enforcement was summoned around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim receiving assistance from a neighbor who had applied a tourniquet to his leg, a move that authorities believe could have saved his life.

The victim, Anderson’s 42-year-old ex-husband, had sustained stab wounds to his back and leg. According to the police, the assault took place in Anderson’s apartment, and the victim managed to escape to a nearby unit. The argument that led to the stabbing reportedly started over items he had bought from a grocery store.

Despite their divorce, Anderson and her ex-husband continued to have a relationship, police said. The authorities have not disclosed the specific items purchased at the grocery store that sparked the violent altercation.
