Seattle, Washington – Xbox Live, Microsoft’s multiplayer gaming and digital media network, experienced technical difficulties on Tuesday as a large number of users reported issues accessing the service.
Reports of problems with Xbox Live began to rise around 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday, with over 23,000 outage reports logged on the monitoring site Downdetector by 2:25 p.m., majority indicating difficulties logging in. Some users reported receiving error messages stating that the service was undergoing “scheduled maintenance.”
In addition to Xbox Live, other Microsoft-operated services like Minecraft and the Microsoft Store also saw a high volume of user error reports on Downdetector. The Xbox team has been contacted by Variety for further information on the issue.
Despite the user-reported problems, a check of the Xbox status page showed no current issues, stating that “All services are up and running” as of 2:45 p.m. ET. Around the same time, the support account for Microsoft Flight Simulator acknowledged the Xbox Live outage and informed users to stay updated on the Xbox Live Status for any developments.
Frustrated Xbox Live users took to social media to vent about the technical difficulties they were facing. Tweets expressed concerns over issues with logging in, watching YouTube, and playing games, with one user questioning the reason behind the ongoing problem and another unable to register the outage on the Microsoft website.
The situation highlights the reliance of users on gaming platforms like Xbox Live and the impact of technical issues on their overall gaming experience. As more updates become available, users are encouraged to follow official status pages for the latest information on the situation.
