Barcelona, SPAIN – Xiaomi has introduced a groundbreaking feature on its latest smartwatch, the Xiaomi Watch S3, distinguishing it from other smartwatches in the market. The device allows users to twist and remove the bezel around the screen, enabling them to customize the look of their smartwatch easily. This innovative feature resembles the old Nokia phones’ ability to change faceplates, offering users a unique way to personalize their wearable technology.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 comes in a variety of color schemes, including Chrome Yellow, Rainbow, Dual-tone Ceramic, and Ocean Blue, allowing users to choose a style that suits their preferences. Additionally, the smartwatch offers more than 180 free watch faces, with the option to purchase additional faces through Xiaomi’s app store. The interchangeable bezels and straps, combined with the aluminum case available in black or silver, provide users with a wide range of customization options to create a personalized look.
Unlike its predecessor, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, which utilized Google’s Wear OS software, the Xiaomi Watch S3 operates on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS software. HyperOS, announced in 2023, is built on Xiaomi’s Vela system and Linux, although it retains an underlying Android framework. Similar to Huawei’s HarmonyOS, HyperOS will also integrate with Xiaomi’s smartphones and other smart ecosystem products, including vehicles, in the future.
HyperOS introduces a new control method that allows users to navigate the smartwatch using gestures such as wrist flicks or twists to access various features like answering calls, capturing photos, or checking the weather. Coupled with a 486mAh battery, Xiaomi promises up to 15 days of battery life on a single charge, although the charging time remains undisclosed.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 features a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, a 47mm case size, and 5ATM water resistance. It offers a range of health and fitness tracking capabilities, including a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitor, sleep tracker, 150 sports modes, and GPS functionality. Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth calling for added convenience.
While Xiaomi has not announced the price of the Watch S3, the device is expected to face stiff competition in the smartwatch market. With its unique customization options, advanced features, and sleek design, the Xiaomi Watch S3 aims to carve out a niche in the competitive wearable technology space, challenging existing smartwatches on the market.
