The actor said two masked men threatened him with a gun and knife before taking his watch Thursday night.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Actor Keegan Allen shared video of himself injured and bleeding Thursday night after he said two masked men robbed him at gunpoint and knifepoint outside a West Hollywood grocery store, an account that closely matched details released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded about 9:05 p.m. Oct. 8 to the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard after receiving a report of a robbery, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Authorities said two men dressed in black approached a victim, with one pointing a silver handgun and the other displaying a knife. The men demanded the victim’s watch and bracelet before the victim was struck in the face with the handgun. The suspects took a watch and fled in an unknown vehicle.
Allen, 37, posted a video from outside Laurel Supply, a grocery store and eatery near Santa Monica Boulevard and Holloway Drive. In the video, the “Pretty Little Liars” actor said he had just been robbed of his watch and described being hit in the head. Blood was visible on his face as he asked someone nearby to call police. Allen said the attackers wore masks and were armed with a gun and a knife.
Allen also posted what appeared to be security camera footage of the confrontation. The recording showed two people approaching him in a parking lot before an apparent struggle. One person appeared to strike him before both individuals ran away. Authorities have not publicly identified the suspects, and no arrests had been announced as of Friday.
The Sheriff’s Department said the victim suffered a cut to his forehead. The Los Angeles County Fire Department evaluated him at the scene, and authorities said he was not transported from the location by ambulance. Allen later wrote on social media that he believed he had suffered a concussion and was at a hospital. No further information about his medical condition was immediately released.
Allen said in his post that the attackers threatened to kill him over the watch. He also expressed concern about public safety in West Hollywood and called for the suspects to be found. His comments reflected his personal reaction to the robbery; authorities did not announce any broader finding about crime trends in the city in connection with the case.
The actor is known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on the television drama “Pretty Little Liars.” He has also appeared in television series including “Walker” and “The Rookie.” His public profile drew widespread attention to the video Friday as local and national outlets reported on the robbery and the search for those responsible.
Investigators had not released detailed descriptions of the two suspects beyond saying they were men dressed in black. The Sheriff’s Department said they left the area in a vehicle, but authorities had not publicly identified the vehicle or announced the direction in which it traveled. The department has not said whether investigators recovered additional surveillance recordings or other evidence.
The West Hollywood Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the robbery. As of Friday, no arrests had been reported, and authorities were seeking information that could help identify the two suspects.
