**ALLERGEN ALERT:** Vermont Company Recalls 8,000 Boxes of Frozen Meat Pizza for Undeclared Soy Traces

Newport, Vermont – A company based in Vermont has initiated a recall of more than 8,000 boxes of frozen meat pizza due to an undisclosed allergen present in the product. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently issued a recall alert for approximately 8,220 pounds of frozen meat pizza produced by 802 VT Frozen in Newport, Vermont. The packaging of the “802 VT Frozen MEAT!!! CRISPY WOOD-FIRED CRUST HAND MADE PIZZA” fails to mention the inclusion of soy, a notable allergen.

The items in question were manufactured between April 25, 2023, and April 25, 2024, and are marked with the establishment number “EST. 46308” on the USDA mark of inspection. According to the USDA recall, these pizzas were distributed to various retailers and fundraisers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The presence of soy was discovered during a routine Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) verification process, despite not being listed on the label.

Soy allergies can lead to various reactions, such as tingling, hives, itching, swelling of the lips or mouth, wheezing, belly pain, nausea, vomiting, or red skin. Individuals with severe soy allergies may experience difficulty breathing, shock, rapid heart rate, dizziness, or loss of consciousness. While no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to the product have been received by the FDA, consumers are advised to refrain from consuming the affected pizzas. It is recommended to dispose of them properly or return them to the place of purchase.

For those concerned about a potential allergic reaction, the FDA encourages them to seek guidance from their healthcare provider. Taking immediate action is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals who may be affected by the undisclosed allergen in the frozen meat pizzas.
