TUCSON, Arizona – Formerly known as Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who made headlines for identifying as Black, has been terminated from her teaching position at an elementary school in Arizona due to the content she posted on her OnlyFans account. Dolezal legally changed her name to Nkechi Diallo in 2016 and had been teaching at the Catalina Foothills school district since August 2023.
The school district’s director of alumni and community relations, Julie Farbarik, stated that Diallo was dismissed after the district became aware of her OnlyFans account and determined that its content violated their policies regarding social media use and staff ethics. The account was linked on Diallo’s public Instagram profile. The district did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Diallo gained notoriety for her disputed racial identity, having publicly identified as a Black woman for years and even holding a leadership position in the local chapter of the NAACP before her parents publicly revealed her true racial background in 2015. Following the controversy, she lost her teaching position at Eastern Washington University and turned to OnlyFans in 2021 after struggling to find employment, posting hundreds of adult videos and photos on the subscription-based platform.
This case is not isolated, as in 2023, a teacher in Missouri was suspended and later resigned after her OnlyFans account was discovered and shared on social media. Some have argued that educators turning to platforms like OnlyFans highlights the financial struggles faced by those in the education field, with the average school teacher earning approximately $66,745 per year and a significant portion of education professionals earning less than $25,000 annually.
With the popularity of OnlyFans increasing, from 1 million global creators in 2020 to 3 million in 2023, and some top accounts earning as much as $5.4 million per year, questions about the intersection of personal choices and professional standards continue to arise. This case serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges faced in the intersection of personal and professional lives in the digital age.
