Boyfriend’s Murder Plot: Girlfriend and Co-Worker Conspire in Shocking Crime

Bridgeview, Illinois – Authorities in Bridgeview have arrested a woman after allegedly uncovering a plot to kill her boyfriend involving her co-worker, with whom she was in a relationship. Agnieszka Rydzewski, 33, faces charges of solicitation to commit murder in connection with the death of her boyfriend, Arturo Cantu.

The victim, 39-year-old Cantu, was shot twice outside his apartment in the early hours of Wednesday morning on West 79th Street. During a court appearance, Cantu’s parents were present as Anthony Calderon, 20, of Bedford Park, was charged with first-degree murder in relation to the shooting. Prosecutors detailed the timeline of the murder, alleging that Calderon had a relationship with Cantu’s girlfriend.

According to prosecutors, Cantu was ambushed while loading items into his car before work. Despite his attempts to defend himself, he was fatally shot multiple times by the suspect, later identified as Calderon. Surveillance footage captured Calderon arriving and leaving the scene in his red car.

After tracing the vehicle to a nearby McDonald’s where Calderon worked alongside the victim’s girlfriend, investigators arrested him at his home. Calderon admitted to the killing and directed officers to the murder weapon.

Family members described Cantu as a devoted father of two who was known for his hard work and willingness to assist others. Calderon was denied pre-trial release and is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday, while Rydzewski is set for an initial hearing on Sunday morning.

The arrests serve as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk within seemingly ordinary environments.
