Child, two adults killed after car crashes into bus shelter

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, leaving three victims, one of them a child, dead, as declared by local law enforcement. The solo vehicle accident transpired when an automobile crashed into a bus shelter, as stated by the San Francisco Police Department on their social media account.

The police, having received the distress call at about 12:13 p.m., rushed to the location to find multiple casualties. Despite emergency services’ efforts, two victims, including a child, failed to survive and were declared dead at the accident scene.

Three other injured individuals, counting the driver responsible for the accident, were quickly moved to a medical institution. A post on Sunday by the authorities on their social media confirmed the death of a third victim, an adult female hospitalized with injuries, and mentioned the critical condition of a surviving infant.

Preceding the accident, the vehicle had reportedly been moving towards the east on Ulloa Street before suddenly colliding with a bus stop at the crossroads of Ulloa Street and Lenox Way. In their statement, the authorities extended their deepest sympathies to the grieving families.

Investigators are trying to find the exact cause of the incident and have discarded traffic engineering as a potential reason. Advocacy group Walk San Francisco is due to organize a vigil on Monday evening at the incident location.
