Driver plows through crowd of cyclists, sending 7 to the hospital

DELRAY BEACH, FL – Seven individuals, including a motorist and six cyclists, were rushed to the hospital following a collision that occurred early Thursday morning on North Ocean Boulevard, according to officials from the Delray Beach Police Department.

The crash, which took place near Gulf Stream Golf Club around 6:45 a.m., resulted in significant damage to both the vehicle and the bicycles. The front of a silver SUV was notably smashed, and remnants of the bicycles were strewn across the roadway.

Ted White, the public information officer for the local police department, confirmed that three of the cyclists involved in the accident were classified as trauma alerts. The current condition of the driver and other cyclists transported to the hospital remains unknown.

The section of North Ocean Boulevard, beginning from George Bush Boulevard, has been shut down for the time being. The reopening timeline is still uncertain, as per White’s statement.

The investigation of the accident is a collaborative effort between the Delray Beach Police Department, the Gulf Stream Police Department, and the Florida Highway Patrol. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
