Normal, Illinois – Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian unveiled its latest lineup of redesigned EV pickup trucks and SUVs, showcasing a range of improvements and updates to their vehicles. The company’s CEO, RJ Scaringe, expressed excitement over the revamped R1S SUV and R1T pickup trucks, highlighting the technical advancements and enhanced performance that the new models offer.
The newly designed vehicles feature significant hardware upgrades, performance enhancements, and an improved software experience. Rivian emphasizes that the latest models boast new compute and autonomy platforms, along with new motor configurations, design elements, and trim options to cater to customer preferences.
One of the key highlights of Rivian’s new R1 platform is the introduction of in-house designed engines with tri-motor and quad-motor configurations, in addition to a dual-motor option. The company also introduced new battery pack options, including Large, Max, and Standard packs that provide varying levels of range for customers.
Furthermore, Rivian’s second-generation R1 vehicles come equipped with a new electrical architecture and compute platform designed to improve efficiency and reduce wiring within each vehicle. The company’s proprietary Rivian Autonomy Platform features advanced technologies such as AI prediction and a sophisticated camera and radar system to enhance driving capabilities.
In terms of autonomous driving features, Rivian offers the Rivian Autonomy Platform+ with additional functionalities like lane change on demand and enhanced highway assist. The company also introduces innovative ways for owners to interact with their vehicles, including using Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch or select Google Pixel devices to unlock and start their cars.
The new R1S SUV starts at $75,900, while the R1T pickup truck begins at $69,900. Both models are produced in Normal, Illinois, and are available for immediate delivery to customers. With these new advancements and updates, Rivian continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, providing customers with high-quality, high-performance vehicles that cater to diverse lifestyle needs.
