Famous rapper’s brother shot and killed after funeral service

MEMPHIS, TN – Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, brother of renowned rapper Yo Gotti, was killed in a targeted gun attack outside a Memphis restaurant on Saturday afternoon. Memphis police were alerted to the gunfire outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Center and found two individuals had been shot, according to various reports.

Mims was rushed to the St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Reports indicate that a second casualty, also critically wounded, was privately transported to the same hospital before requiring airlifting to Regional One Health in Memphis.

Memphis Deputy Police Chief Paul Wright confirmed that the victims were attending a repast service at the restaurant following a family funeral earlier that day.

Details of the perpetrator(s) remain vague, and no arrests have yet been made as of yet. Wright, addressing a press briefing, mentioned the likelihood of the attack on Mims being purposeful. The investigation is ongoing, and further connections to Yo Gotti have yet to be made.

Despite featuring in multiple Collective Media Group music videos, Big Jook’s main occupation was in the business side of his brother’s record label, CMG the Label, as indicated by his Instagram page. Whether the famous rapper, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims, was present during the attack has not been confirmed. Yo Gotti has maintained silence regarding his brother’s untimely demise.

The talented rapper Yo Gotti, formerly Lil Yo, broke onto the scene with his inaugural album “Youngsta’s On a Come Up” in 1996. His widely acclaimed career features nominations for various BET Hip Hop awards and collaborations with prominent artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kanye West.
