In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, the band’s frontman expressed that there has been no communication with Sambora regarding the docuseries. He emphasized that the project was not a mere fluff piece but a genuine exploration of their history.
Sambora’s unexpected departure from the band in 2013 left fans shocked, with Canadian musician Phil X stepping in to fill his role both during Sambora’s brief hiatus for rehab in 2011 and eventually as the band’s official lead guitarist in 2016.
The strained relationship between Bon Jovi and Sambora was further highlighted by Bon Jovi’s revelation that the two do not currently speak. Despite the lack of communication, Bon Jovi maintained that there is still a bond of love between them, acknowledging the personal struggles Sambora faced as a single father dealing with emotional and substance abuse issues.
