Five-year-old girl strangled to death by backyard swing

FORT COLLINS, CO – In a heart-wrenching incident, Aurora Masters, a 5-year-old Colorado girl, passed away following being strangled by her swing, as per reports. The unfortunate event occurred while the young girl was playing in the backyard of her Fort Collins home and somehow got entwined with the rope of her swing.

Aurora’s great-aunt, Brenda Kennedy, explained that the little girl dragged her plastic slide to the swing. She then got wrapped up in it, eventually leading to a fatal strangulation.

Following the accident, Aurora was immediately rushed to a hospital, spending days in a critical state under the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Her family was eventually compelled to make the tormenting decision of taking Aurora off life support due to the irreversible brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen, as confirmed by an MRI scan.

The young girl was kept alive through life support for two additional days to retain her organs for donation to help other children in need. Aurora, fondly remembered as a “ray of sunshine,” had officially passed away on Monday.

The Fort Collins Police Department is not pursuing any further investigation concerning Aurora’s death. They have clarified to USA Today that there is no probable cause for any suspected criminal activity and have deemed the incident as an unfortunate accident.
