Funeral home stabbing leaves 6 people injured

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – A brawl during a viewing at a funeral home in downtown Salt Lake City on Tuesday afternoon resulted in multiple stabbings. Authorities responded to a distress call from Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home around 1:30 p.m., where they discovered a grave situation.

An update from the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) on Wednesday shed more light on the unfortunate incident. According to police, scores of people were at the funeral home for a viewing when an argument broke out and swiftly turned violent, resulting in at least three people being stabbed.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found four victims. It was initially believed that one individual had been shot and three had been stabbed. The presumed gunshot victim, in critical condition, was quickly transported to the hospital. However, doctors were unable to confirm the type of injury or the victim’s current status.

The three confirmed stabbed victims had varying degrees of injury, skating the line between minor and severe but were not life-threatening. Simultaneously, attention was drawn to a vehicle speeding away from the scene. Police managed to stop the vehicle a few blocks away, finding three occupants inside.

Two of the car’s occupants had minor injuries and were sent to the hospital, from which they have been discharged. The third occupant, who was unharmed, was taken in for questioning by the SLCPD. However, neither of the three individuals seemed to have been victims of the stabbing.

In the aftermath, six people were found to be injured in the brawl, all being males aged between 17 and 35. As investigations continue, no suspects have been apprehended as of Wednesday afternoon.
