Gotham’s Troublemaker: Colin Farrell Stars in “The Penguin” Spinoff Series – Watch the Trailer Now!

Gotham City, known as the gritty backdrop to the iconic Batman universe, is set to welcome back Colin Farrell in the role of Oz Cobb, better known as Oswald Cobblepot, in the upcoming spinoff series “The Penguin.” The series, a follow-up to the 2022 hit “The Batman,” is scheduled to premiere this fall on the streaming service Max.

“The Penguin” picks up right after the events of the recent DC blockbuster, delving into Cobblepot’s ascent to power within the Gotham underworld as he establishes himself as a formidable villain in the Batman universe. The trailer for the series showcases Farrell delivering a captivating gangster monologue, gradually building up the intensity with violent clashes and gunfights in the dark underbelly of Gotham City.

Farrell’s portrayal of the enigmatic villain in “The Batman” garnered critical acclaim, with the actor undergoing a remarkable transformation thanks to prosthetics. Previous actors who have taken on the role of the Penguin include Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito, and Robin Lord Taylor.

Joining Farrell in the series are a talented cast that includes Cristin Milioti, Michael Zegen, Clancy Brown, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, and David H. Holmes, portraying key characters in the Gotham criminal landscape.

Executive produced and overseen by Lauren LeFranc, known for her work on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “The Penguin” has Matt Reeves, the writer-director of “The Batman,” serving as an executive producer. The series, which consists of eight episodes, encountered a production halt in June due to industry strikes but resumed filming shortly after Thanksgiving.

In addition to “The Penguin,” fans can also look forward to a sequel to “The Batman,” titled “The Batman: Part II,” which was postponed by a year and is now slated for release in theaters on Oct. 2, 2026. The upcoming projects promise to further expand the intricate world of Gotham City and its infamous inhabitants.
