Sheriff’s investigators filed another murder charge against Jaime Garcia after connecting him to a fatal May shooting.
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man already accused of killing a repairman at an Atascocita-area home has been charged in a second, unrelated homicide, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
Investigators charged 32-year-old Jaime Garcia with murder Thursday in the May 26 shooting death of Francisco Navarro, 41. Navarro was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in east Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Garcia was already being held in a separate murder case involving Christopher Walsh, a 31-year-old repairman.
The new charge means Garcia is accused in two killings that occurred several weeks apart in different parts of Harris County. Authorities have not publicly described a motive in either case or explained what evidence led investigators to connect Garcia to Navarro’s death. Both accusations remain pending in court, and Garcia has not been convicted in either homicide.
Deputies found Navarro at about 7:30 a.m. May 26 in the 1300 block of Patch Street, near the East Freeway. Officials said Navarro had gone to work but did not return home, prompting relatives to contact his employer. The company used tracking information from his work vehicle to help locate it, according to published reports.
Navarro was found inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators did not immediately release details about why he was at that location, whether he knew Garcia or how Garcia was identified as a suspect.
Garcia was later arrested in the separate case involving Walsh. Deputies were flagged down at about 10:45 p.m. July 2 after Walsh’s family became concerned when he failed to return from a repair job, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators found Walsh shot to death at a vacant home in a gated community in northeast Harris County.
Walsh’s work vehicle was reportedly tracked to the home in the 12400 block of Crathie Drive in the Atascocita area. Authorities have not said what type of repair work Walsh had been asked to perform or whether the service call was connected to Garcia. The circumstances surrounding Walsh’s arrival at the property remain part of the investigation.
Court records reviewed by Houston news organizations show Garcia was denied bail in the Walsh case. The records also show he had been charged in December 2025 with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an alleged parking dispute. He had been released on a $75,000 bond while that earlier case remained pending.
The aggravated assault allegation and the two murder charges are separate proceedings. Prosecutors will have to prove each charge in court, and the filing of criminal charges does not establish guilt. Information about Garcia’s attorney and his next scheduled court appearance was not immediately available.
The sheriff’s office said the investigations remain active. Authorities have not announced whether detectives are reviewing additional cases or whether further charges are expected.
