Indianapolis Waffle House Shooting Leaves 1 Dead and 5 Injured – Homicide Detectives Investigating Disturbance Escalation

Indianapolis, Indiana – A fatal shooting at a Waffle House in southwest Indianapolis left one person dead and five others injured, police said Monday.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the restaurant’s South Lynhurst Drive location around 12:40 a.m. Among the injured was a critically wounded woman, who later died at the hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Police believe the incident began as a disturbance between two groups before escalating into gunfire. They are currently reviewing surveillance footage and collecting forensic evidence to aid in their investigation.

In addition to the five individuals initially found with gunshot wounds, a sixth victim arrived at a hospital in critical condition. Detectives are working to determine if any of the injured individuals were also involved in the shooting.
