International manhunt underway for man suspected of killing woman at airport

BOSTON, MA – The hunt is on for a murder suspect believed to have fled to Kenya after a woman was found dead in a car at Boston Logan International Airport. The victim, 31-year-old Margaret Mbitu, was reported missing by her family two days before her body was discovered on Wednesday.

The Massachusetts State Police have identified the suspect as 40-year-old Kevin Kangethe. The police believe that the murder was not random, as Kangethe and Mbitu were known to each other.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has provided surveillance footage showing Kangethe at Logan International Airport on November 1, 2023. The footage was crucial in identifying the suspect and his subsequent departure from the country.

The discovery of Mbitu’s body was made by Massachusetts State Troopers who were investigating her disappearance. “At approximately 6:30 PM Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, a vehicle occupied by a deceased adult female was located in the Central Parking garage at Logan Airport,” stated the official report. Further investigations confirmed the victim as the missing woman, Margaret Mbitu, and evidence pointed to homicide as the cause of death.

Authorities are now working with Kenyan officials to locate Kangethe, who is believed to be in the country. An arrest warrant has been issued by the Massachusetts State Police Detectives. “We are making every effort possible to apprehend him and to begin the process of seeking justice for Margaret Mbitu and those mourning her tragic death,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Despite the ongoing investigation, officials have assured the public and travelers at Logan Airport that there is no immediate threat. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
