Kansas City Parade Shooting: Two Men Charged with Murder After Deadly Incident

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Two men have been charged with murder in connection to the deadly shooting that occurred during the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City last week. The shooting resulted in one death and 22 injuries, attributed to an argument between the two charged men.

The suspects, Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays, were both injured during the incident. Two teenagers were also charged with resisting arrest and gun violations. The Jackson County Prosecutor, Jean Peters Baker, announced the charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to Ms. Peters Baker, Mays instigated the argument and drew a handgun, prompting others to also draw firearms. Prosecutors believe Miller was the one who shot and killed Lisa Lopez Galvan during the incident. Both men remain in the hospital, recovering from their injuries, and are being held on a $1 million bond.

The family of Ms. Lopez Galvan expressed gratitude for the suspects’ arrest, conveying relief that justice is being sought for her and the other victims. The two men’s charges are in addition to the charges brought against two teenagers last week.

Officials revealed that the incident started with a verbal altercation between Mays and four individuals, escalating to Mays drawing his weapon aggressively. Surveillance footage showed Mays approaching the group before ultimately opening fire.

The investigation continues, with the possibility of additional charges. The shooting remains one of several recent incidents of violence at sports celebrations across the US, highlighting ongoing concerns about public safety at large gatherings.
