Male nurse arrested for sexual assault of unconscious hospital patient

RIVERSIDE, CA – A male nurse, identified as Jacob Daniel Hartman, 27, was arrested and later released on bail in relation to a sexual assault incident involving an unconscious female patient at a California hospital. Authorities are concerned that there may be additional victims.

Hartman was apprehended by law enforcement on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, including the sexual battery of an unconscious individual at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Riverside, as per a statement from the Riverside Police Department. The hospital is located approximately 40 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles.

The woman had been a patient at the hospital for several days in mid-January, during which Hartman allegedly assaulted her.

Hartman, a resident of Corona, a city in northwestern Riverside County, was later processed at the Robert Presley Detention Center. He was subsequently released on $55,000 bail.

The Riverside Police Department did not disclose further details about the incident or reveal the age of the woman. However, they expressed concern that there could be other victims who have yet to come forward.

Kaiser Permanente Hospital confirmed in a statement that Hartman is no longer employed by the institution. “At Kaiser Permanente, safe and high-quality care are always our top priorities,” the statement reads. “As soon as we learned of this serious accusation, we immediately cooperated with law enforcement and started an internal investigation.”
