In a shocking incident in Louisville, a man identified as Moises May, 36, has been taken into custody. He is accused of subjecting a woman to a horrifying ordeal, forcing her to disrobe, trimming her hair with a machete, and chaining her to the floor for five hours. He is also alleged to have threatened her life.
The woman, Joanna Wilson, was found by law enforcement in a house off Dixie Highway. May, who shares a child with Wilson, allegedly compelled her to strip and kept her chained in a house they once lived in together. The incident is said to have started with a dispute between Wilson and May on Wednesday.
The arrest report details that May physically overpowered Wilson, assaulted her, and used a machete to trim her hair. He is reported to have threatened her with severe repercussions if she left and didn’t return home. Wilson shared her terrifying experience, stating that May forced her to strip and chained her up, then called a friend and announced his plan to kill her upon his return from a store.
Wilson asserts that she would have lost her life if her neighbors hadn’t alerted the authorities. She managed to open a window and scream for help, drawing the attention of nearby residents. She described the house as a fortress, with every door and window securely bolted, making escape impossible.
Firefighters had to use a ladder to access the second floor of the house and bolt cutters to free Wilson. The arrest report highlighted the extreme disregard for human life shown by the suspect, as he left Wilson chained with no way to call for help or escape, thereby putting her at risk of serious physical harm or death.
The Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed that May is currently being processed. A spokesperson expressed hope that the arrest would bring some relief to Wilson, the victim in this case. The department continues to investigate the incident.
