Parking garage shooting leaves one woman dead

A tragic incident unfolded at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville on Saturday when a 34-year-old woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Simranjit Singh, allegedly opened fire on the victim on the third floor of the mall’s parking garage before fleeing the scene. Roseville police swiftly responded to the incident, apprehending Singh near a nearby Best Buy store. The mall was briefly placed on lockdown, but authorities have assured the public that there is no longer a threat to safety.

According to Roseville police, the victim and the suspect arrived at the Westfield Galleria together on Saturday morning. The shooting occurred on the third floor of the parking garage, where Singh allegedly shot the woman before making his escape. The authorities have recovered the weapon used in the crime. Lt. Chris Ciampa of the Roseville Police Department confirmed that Singh has been arrested and will be booked in Placer County Jail for Homicide.

Following the shooting, Singh reportedly went shopping at an Old Navy store located within the mall. A witness inside the store observed the suspect purchasing a shirt with cash, changing into it, and placing his old shirt in a shopping bag. Despite the active shooter situation and the mall being on lockdown, officers quickly located and detained Singh outside the nearby Best Buy store. The witness only realized the shopper was the accused shooter after the suspect was apprehended.

Roseville police have emphasized that this was not a random act of violence, providing reassurance to the community that it was an isolated incident. The authorities are working closely with the Westfield Galleria’s security team, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing eyewitnesses to gather further evidence.

Singh will face charges of homicide and is expected to be booked into Placer County Jail. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.
